I will use this application as additional practice for equation solving. This app will help students visualize and manipulate equations to better understand how to solve them in both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 classes. I will use this app for supplemental material for my students as well as another way to see and hear how to solve equations. This is definitely a hands-on app for students to excel in Algebra.
I would use the app for calling on students in class when there are no volunteers. However, as I looked at all the possibilities, that is just the beginning. I could also use it for differentiated instruction, which allows me to choose a stem of Bloom’s Taxonomy questions to focus on.
I will use this app to help students work on mental math. Many of my students depend on a calculator to do basic math such as 9 + 7. I would use this after students are done with a class assignment, and I think that I could use this in all levels of classes. Also, this app would be used to help students prepare for ACT/SAT & WKCE tests.
I will use this app to help students in specific areas they are struggling with such as distance formula or prime factorization. I can also use this for more examples on specific topic using the document camera in the classroom so all students can see the problems.
This app will be used for help in vocabulary. It is very important for students to remember vocabulary from previous chapters in order to understand new material. This app is a great way to test students’ vocabulary. The app has many different options for successful mastery of vocabulary terms, such as setting aside flash cards that the students did not recall.
This app will make it much easier to be able to walk the classroom while still using the Promethean Board. The drawback to this is that there is a specific program the school district must download to each computer where this app is to be used in order to make the iPad communicate with the Promethean Board. I will use this while I am going through a lesson and still be able to manage the room.
This is an app that I will use for students who have been absent. The app has videos on Algebra 2 topics. I will have the student watch the videos so they have a better understanding of what they missed the days they were absent.
This tool will be used as a trainer for the whole class on SAT preps, which is very similar to ACT, or the college entrance exam. Many students need help with the math portion on the exams.
This is a formula reference guide that I will use in “Math Center”. I am assigned to a small group of students for one block out of the day. These students come to me with a wide range of math classes. The students throw a lot of different questions at me about different formulas. I will then use this app as a guide to make sure I am using the correct formula with the student.
I use this app for my book club. We read a new book every month, and I dislike buying a new book each month and then finding a place to store it after I have read it. This app will be useful to have so I can read anytime anywhere.
I use this app to check the weather for the upcoming week to make sure I know what to wear for the week. I am usually not up for the news at 10pm, so this is a great way to get weather updates periodically.
This is an app I use to check updates on games. I like to check to see how horrible the Chicago Bears are doing while I am watching the Green Bay Packers kick butt. It also updates me on other sports besides the NFL.
I like to use this app to refresh my memory on German terms. Some times in “math center”, I have students who are finished with math and are then working on other homework such as German. This app is also fun to use with my sister and brother-in-law because we all took German as our second language.
